Welcome to the 2014 CrossFit Games season!
Open registration will begin on January 15. More than 138,000 people participated in the Open last year, and this year, the worldwide competition will be even broader and more inclusive.
The first Open workout will be released on Thursday, Feb. 27. The fifth and final Open workout will be released five weeks later on Thursday, March 27. More information on the competition details for Individuals, Masters and Teams will be released later this week.
What this means to CCF’ers:
CCF is one of the largest CrossFit’s on the East Coast boasting 600+ Members. We would like to see as many of you as possible participate in the 2014 Open. All 5 of the Open WODs will contain movements, and weights, that everyone can participate in. Everyone will be able to get a few reps, and the WODs are scored by reps, not time, or completed rounds.
*Example: Even though 13.3 had muscle-ups at the end, it started with 150 wall balls and 100 double unders.
You can retry the Open WOD’s as many time as you like, as long as your score is submitted, and verified weekly. Each Saturday, CCF will offer that weeks Open WOD for everyone. You will have the opportunity to be “judged” and have your reps counted, scored, signed off on, and then submitted.
Understand that every score counts! In 2012, Open WOD 1 was 7min of burpees. CCF won that WOD in the South East Region, and was 7th worldwide. 4 of the 6 top scores from CCF were from Athletes that did not make the Regional Team, they were just proficient at burpees!
*you must be judged to have a score submitted and validated by CCF. If you plan to do the Open WOD on your own, find a trainer so they can get you someone who has passed the “Online Judges Course” to count your reps.
Typically, the Affiliate with the highest participation in their region wins 100 free tickets to Regionals (South East Regional, May 9-11th Jacksonville, FL). The Affiliate with the highest participation worldwide, on top of recognition on the CrossFit Games site (http://games.crossfit.com/), has their Affiliate fee waived for life! Last year, the leading “Box” had a little over 400 participants. CCF can beat this!
For those more advanced CCF Athletes who are interested in making the 2014 CCF Regional Team:
CCF will take the top 3 male & female finishers overall in the Open to Regionals, as well as the 4th place male & female as alternates. This ensures that your ability as an Athlete will earn you a spot on the Team.
Every Saturday at 7am, CCF will offer Coaching, Programming, Team Work, and Competition Criteria along with “gaming” that weeks Open WOD.
If you’re unable to make this first Saturday, but know that you are hoping to make the Top 3 for the Team, please email Coach Paul here:
As more details are released for the 2014 Season, CCF will share them. You can keep up with all of the action on your own here:
